Repair enthusiasts from around the world are invited to join the sixth international Repair Café webinar on Friday, 12 June. This free webinar will focus on the growing movement of Linux Repair Cafés.
The one-hour webinar is in English, from 3.30 to 4.30 PM CET (2.30 to 3.30 BST). The event is co-chaired by Joanna van der Zanden, chair of Repair Café International Foundation in Amsterdam, and Martin Charter, chair of Farnham Repair Café and professor at the Centre for Sustainable Design in Farnham, UK.

In October 2026, Microsoft will stop supporting the computer operating system Windows 10. This puts millions of older computers at risk of becoming e-waste. At Linux Repair Cafés people can get to know Linux, an open-source alternative, and have it installed on their computer for free on the spot.
What can you expect?
The webinar will explain how Linux Repair Cafés work and how you can start one yourself. We will share lessons learned and best practice examples, and there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
Who is the webinar for?
This webinar is for everyone who is interested in starting a Linux Repair Café — either as part of an existing Repair Café or as a standalone initiative. We will help you get started!

I’m a repair volunteer at the Coast Repair Cafe, originally Gibson Repair Cafe at Gibson, Sunshine Coast, BC Canada. We have a second location in Sechelt that may be the reason for the name change. Our computer expert has moved on so I’m trying to do some repairs on donated computers. What would be the time for the seminar on the northwest coast?
Dear Morris, I am not sure about your time zones in BC. But the webinar will take place at 3.30 to 4.30 PM CET (which is 2.30 to 3.30 BST).

Feel free to use any option you like. We choose Linux (Mint) because it provides less dependency on companies like Google. We prefer the free open source model and focus on privacy.
