It’s time to get your diaries out because International Repair Day is coming up again! Look at the global programme or add your own event to the map. Together, we’ll put repair in the spotlight.

This year, on Saturday 17 October, we will be celebrating Repair Day for the tenth time. This year’s theme is Repairing Unites People. You can find the programme on the organisation’s website, where you can also add your own events.

What is Repair Day?

Repair Day is an annual celebration for anyone passionate about repair. On this day, we celebrate the power of repair: it brings people together, has a positive environmental impact, and helps us to learn new skills. There are countless ways to get involved, whether you’re a repairer, a community organiser, a DIY enthusiast, a repair business, an activist, or simply a fan of repairing things.

From street festivals to textile workshops

Of course, you can always drop in on a fun event in your neighbourhood. Even better, why not organise something yourself? Need some inspiration? There are already hundreds of events on the map, including an XL Repair Café in Bühl, repair activities with schools in California, a repair festival in Vienna, and textile workshops at the Museum of Making in Derby. You could bake cakes for your Repair Café, invite local musicians or even make repairs out on the street – make it your own party!

How to get involved!

If you’re organising an event between 10 and 25 October, make sure you add it to the Repair Day world map! This will demonstrate just how popular repair initiatives are all over the world. Some groups even organise special events throughout October.

The Repair Day toolkit will help you get started. It contains tips and tricks for organising your event, as well as promotional material such as posters and social media posts. The toolkit is available in the English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish.

We hope to see you on Repair Day!
